Good on ya Air NZ for bringing back standby fares for the Christchurch folk and those visiting there…I hope this is permanent!
The press release states that the flights will be only $59 but come with a condition.
“The standby fares are available to Air New Zealand’s one million Airpoints members on any non-stop off peak (10am – 3.30pm) domestic service to or from Christchurch. That means last minute bargain seats to and from a range of great destinations including Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown and Dunedin on Air New Zealand’s domestic jet route; and regional routes such as Invercargill, Wanaka, Hokitika, Blenheim, Nelson, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Napier, Rotorua and Hamilton.”
To join the Airpoints we have a free membership offer on SeeYa this will save you the $50 sign up fee.
The process for getting these standby fares is also new and easy. Just go to the airport, buy a voucher from the Grabaseat Standby Desk then wait till 30mins before the flight and go back to the Grabaseat desk and see if you on…damn simple really!
Air New Zealand has set up a Grabaseat page with available flights.
